Apart from this,
they have to face many other problems like-
- Indian girls have to
compromise on various aspects of their lives. They have to manage with limited
resources and often put their studies on hold for marriage. Many girls are
forced to leave their studies early due to societal pressure, and after
marriage, they are expected to sacrifice their careers for their in-laws. - In addition, girls are expected to take on numerous
household responsibilities, including cooking for everyone’s taste. They are
also expected to manage their appearance, clothing, hair, and makeup, according
to societal norms. - Before and after marriage, girls are often told what to
wear, how to wear it, and how to style their hair. They are also expected to
conform to societal norms regarding relationships and social interactions. If a
girl is in a relationship, she is often judged and ostracized by society. - The fear of public shame and social stigma can lead many
girls to become victims of blackmail and honor killings. The responsibility of
managing the entire household rests on the girl’s shoulders, and she is often
expected to make sacrifices for her family. - Moreover, girls are often subjected to color and body
shaming, and are taunted for their appearance. They are also expected to
compromise in various aspects of life, including education, food, clothes, and
freedom. - The most pressing issue is that many girls are married off
early without their consent, and their parents spend more on their marriage
than on their education and career. The dowry system is also a significant
problem in many parts of India.
